Peru is a MUST-SEE place! Machu Picchu alone is reason to visit Peru, but that is just one of the wonders of Peru! If Incan ruins, pre-Columbian art, and colonial architecture speak to you, then Peru is your place! But really, that is just the start of what Peru has to offer. The awe-inspiring Andes mountains and lush rainforest will leave you speechless. Then, you have the alpaca farms!! Who doesn’t have petting an alpaca on their bucket list?!! Yet, what will have you thinking back on your time in Peru for decades to come will be the hospitality and love you received from the Peruvian people. They are some of the most loving, caring people in the world!!

Itinerary

Day1


Arrive in Cusco, where you’ll be greeted at the airport by a Lift Our Planet staff member who will escort you to our accommodations. Settle in and join us for a walking tour of the city. Enjoy a traditional Peruvian meal at our volunteer welcome dinner.

Day 2


Start your day with breakfast and
a morning volunteer orientation, where you’ll learn about the project and the village, as well as Peruvian cultural customs and language. Afterward, we’ll visit several Inca sites and travel to Pisaq to learn more about the city.

Day 3


Wake early to travel to our adopted village, where you’ll share breakfast with the villagers before beginning work on our renovation project at the school. At the end of the day, head to the home of your host family for dinner. 

Day 4


Share breakfast with your host family, and return to the school to continue service. In the afternoon, play games with the children and spend another night in the village. 

Day 5


Spend your last day in the village teaching English in the school. Visit an ancient Inca temple in the afternoon to take part in a traditional shaman ritual. Return to Cusco in the evening.

Day 6


Meet local weavers of Chinchero before exploring Cruzpata on the back of a Peruvian paso horse. Enjoy a lakeside picnic and finish the ride with a tour of the scenery. 

Day 7


Explore the Sacred Valley with stops at Inca sites and an exciting zip lining adventure. Visit a small pottery village before traveling to Ollantaytambo and spending the night in the town of Machu Picchu. 

Day 8


Wake early to board a bus to Machu Picchu city, and begin the day with a hike to the Inca Bridge. Experience all of the sites that make this a wonder of the world and return to Cusco in the afternoon to enjoy a free evening in town.

Day 9


Visit interesting archaeological sites and pre-Inca cities, tour the Andahuaylillas Colonial Church, and return to Cusco for an evening of free time.   

Day 10


Spend your last few hours in Cusco however you’d like. A Lift Our Planet staff member will escort you to the airport and assist you in checking in for your flight in the afternoon.

Zip Lining

Travel with our expert river guides through some of the challenging class III – IV rapids with stunning local scenery and landscapes. Swim in natural lagoons and waterfalls, and view some of the most spectacular scenery and wildlife you could ever imagine!
